Finally BMW F800R is available for the American costumer. The motorcycle is named 2011 BMW F800R. The 2011 F 800 R is going to offer customers a light weight (390 lbs. dry, 439 lbs. wet) motorcycle with extremely agile and responsive handling. The 'R' features the 800cc inline (parallel) twin cylinder engine that has become famous for its' ability to propel F800GS's through all kinds of terrain while maintaining the kind of smooth, reliable operation required by a middle-weight tourer like the F800ST. To give the F800R that extra 'something special' BMW has specially tuned the engine to pump out 87 hp at 8,000 rpm and 63 lb/ft of torque at 6,000 rpm (compared to 85hp at 7,500 rpm and 62 lb/ft at 5,750 rpm for the F800GS). To make the most out of this strong revving twin, BMW also fitted the F800R with shorter gearing. While the first three gears are comparable to those on the F800GS, the gear ratios for 4th, 5th and 6th gear are shorter than those offered in the F800GS. In fact, the F 800 R's 6th gear matches the F 800 GS's 5th gear. This means you'll have stronger acceleration in every gear which, frankly, equals more fun!
